Who is Damiana?

Hello and thanks for stopping by!

I'm Lisa aka Damiana. I am a forty two year old single mother of four challenging but loving children. I am also a new grandmother to a beautiful little girl named Madison. I currently reside in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. I have 5 cats, Sassy, Ozka (George), Cocoa Puss, Boo and Snicklefritz. I also have a big furry dog named Deeley. He is definately a momma's boy. I am the Family Services Director with the Salvation Army here in Dartmouth. Working with them has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. The people I have there met have made a dramatic and lasting effect in my life. I became an adherent member of their church in June of 2008.

I have a wide variety of interests that include reading, drawing, cooking, digital photgraphy and writing. I am a Preferred Author on an online writing website called "Writing.com." It was here that I discovered my talent for writing and creating a wide variety of graphic designs called "signatures" or "sigs" for short.

I
have always had a knack for "making" or "creating" things. It's only natural that I was drawn to Graphic Design. Recently, (within the last 6 yrs); I chose to homeschool myself and learn everything I could on the subject. With text books, magazines, tutorials and online courses, I have taught myself how to use programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint Shop Pro, PhotoImpact, Microsoft Digital Image Standard and many more!  The best part about working in this industry is that the information available only gets better with time. I learn more and more each day. I can't truly call myself a professional but I do take pride in my work. I am currently in the process of applying for funding so that I may attend a College for Graphic Design.

M
y interest in this area has lead me to numerous websites that have resources available such as tubes, brushes, vectors, templates etc. Many of them allow us to use these to make your own creations as long as you don't offer the items from their sites in their original form or share them in tubes groups. Having things like this available for novice designers or professionals, take designing to a whole new level.

*All of my "designs" are made with things that I own, purchased online, downloaded for free or obtained through various memberships. Feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions.

On the web!
Well, I did it! I successfully published my site on Friday. I have been making little additions here and there as more testimonials come in. The good things about this site builder is that I can make changes as often as I need to at no extra cost. With the amount of traffic I hope to get (crosses fingers), that is a great feature to have. I hope all of you enjoy the designs you see here and get in inspired to have one of your own.

Pursuit of Perfection
I know nothing in life is truly perfect but I am the type of person who always strives for perfection in everything I do. Some might even venture to call me anal retentive. Take this website for instance. I started it back in May of 2008 and I still don't have it finished!!! I have spent countless hours "tweaking" it to make sure everything is just so. The fact that I have never built a website before has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it has taken me so long...yeah right! LOL

Seriously though, there is a great deal of work that goes into the construction of a webpage. I never truly realized how much. The site builder I am using powered by Register.com, is a remarkable tool. It allows even a novice to create a work of art. You don't even have to know HTML coding. The site builder does it all for you. Granted, you do have to have some knowledge of text attributes, images and so forth, but overall the rest is done for you.

I am very close to finishing this webpage and I am quite proud of what I have done thus far. I will keep you posted on my progress.

All designs require a down payment. The amount will vary based on the type of work requested. This amount will be deducted from the full cost of the graphic design once it is completed. Since each design is custom made, the price will depend on the complexity of the desired graphic and the time involved. Payments are made through PayPal by bank account or credit card.
